When Wanderers Cease to Roam: A Traveler’s Journal of Staying Put.

J’adore j’adore j’adore.

Vivian Swift is a woman after my own heart. I love her story, I love her blog and I love her book: When Wanderers Cease to Roam: a Traveler’s Journal of Staying Put.

Just last night I was lamenting the lack of imagination and creativity in so many travel books I see. This is the very beautiful, original kind of thing I love to discover. Swift is also unique in illustrating and praising the beauty and adventure of staying in one place. You don’t have to travel very far to arrive at some amazing places within yourself; there’s wonder in your home and just outside your window.

It might be some time before I settle down but, when I do, this is the kind of book I dream of creating. Of course, I can’t draw or needlepoint… hmm, guess I have some daydream details to iron out first!

Vivian is at Broadway Books in Portland, Tuesday 24th May at 7pm.
